We recently played a post-show concert in York, PA – York Revolutions vs. Lancaster Barnstormers on August 26th. Not only is the town of York, PA a beautiful and welcoming place but we had an extraordinary opportunity to introduce Autumn, a young friend of NewSong’s, to the crowd.

We first met Autumn in November of 2006 on our trip to China with Holt International. The purpose of our trip was to visit various orphanages and to get an up close and personal view of the all too real need – not only for food and other necessities of life but ultimately for loving safe homes for these abandoned children.

While visiting with a group of children and workers in the front of an orphanage we were introduced to Autumn as a young girl who was in desperate need of being adopted. You see Autumn had just turned 13 the month before on October 6th and in China it is against the law for a child to be adopted after they turn fourteen years of age.

Upon returning home not only prayers but emails were sent out to all of our friends and family about her situation and need. We all felt such a desire to find a family for young Autumn before she turned 14 and was left to a life on the streets with unthinkable results.

Bob and Dannah Gresh, good friends of our former Manager, were two of the people who received a prayer request concerning Autumn’s need all the way up North in Pennsylvania. They discussed Autumn’s plight with their 2 children and prayed. As a family they quickly decided that they would be the answer to all of the many prayers being offered up – the Gresh Family decided to ADOPT Autumn and give her the loving and safe home that she so desperately needed.

Time was definitely limited but God supplied the money that was needed through several sources and sped up the adoption process that normally takes months and turned it into days. All for the end result of Bob, Dannah, Lexi and Autumn Gresh returning to the States and introducing Autumn to her new home on August 24th. Just in time for us to be in York, PA – right around the corner from Autumn’s new home town.

It was an honor to share her story and introduce Autumn and her new family to the York Revolution crowd.
